Day 72...Big Changes

The beginning of he day started out so well.  I don't think I have slept as soundly on the trail yet, it was fantastic. Plant said that I was dreaming so much that I was talking in my sleep.  We got up and were back on the trail by 6:25 am. For the most part today was uneventful until the end of the day.

We hiked around Nuclear Lake. It was very beautiful.  After that, we passed a section with a lot of day hikers. The big surprise was at the bottom of the mountain, there was a bunch of Trail Magic, it was great. We decided to stop there for lunch.

After lunch, we hiked through rolling farmland for about 1 hour.  We crossed a railroad station where you could get a ride into Grand Central Station, New York.

At the end of the day, when we got to the River Shelter, Plant told me about his plan. He was going to hike back to the train station and go into New York City, spend a few days there and then head home. I was really sorry to hear the news.

Well, we spent the rest of our time together figuring out the logistics of it all, trying to divide up our gear and our food.  I was sad to hear him say he was done.

Shorter blog today.  I spent a lot of the time trying to figure out what I am going to do next. It is hard to see where a path leads.
